Defending their reputation as the best of the new generation of punk rock, Model Citizen has weapons that make them nearly unbeatable. Powerful vocals belting out lyrics laced with meaning, lightning fast guitars, driving bass lines, and arguably the best drummer in punk rock win this band new fans at every venue they play, and inspires loyalty in their already massive fan base.
Inspired by the local success of their first full-length release "Angry America" Model Citizen broke back into the studio to record 13 new tracks that show off their diversity and range as a band. From the insanely speedy opening track "Ride" to the slower tempo of "I Ignore" the listener is taken on a journey that varies in speed and style, but never strays far from the bands punk rock roots.
As the main creative forces in the band, Damien Chiodo and Curt Gallego combine to write songs that relate feeling and ideas, but also give an emotional charge through their upbeat tempo. Drummer Dave Wilkie and bassist Sean O'Neil provide the perfect compliment to round out the rhythm section. In a time when other bands have changed lineups more often than a mother changes a babies diapers, Model Citizens lineup has remained rock solid. This stability, and the bands unbreakable friendship allow them to concentrate on their music and their live shows, and not on petty arguments and unstroked egos. To experience Model Citizen live is the beginning of an addiction to shows of incendiary energy and unparalleled fun. The bands on-stage antics backed with their punk rock anthems and intense musicianship provide show-goers with an experience few other punk bands can provide. Attending a Model Citizen show will leave you ravished, but begging for more.
With the recent signing to Rake Records, Model Citizen has teamed with a label that can provide them the support and promotion crucial to any bands success. The current home of one of the founders of punk rock - SNFU, Rake has big plans in store for Model Citizen. This is to be kicked off by the international release of a new studio album produced by Marc Belke in May 2003 with 13 new tracks that have already proven to be the bands best material to date. In all of 2003 Model Citizen will commence a tour schedule that will take them all across North America, playing some dates with label mates SNFU. In the works is a split EP with SNFU, a label sampler, and a promotional Australian tour commencing in mid 2003.
Model Citizen is playing at the top of their game, and is ready to blast on to the world punk scene faster than a nitro burning funny car tearing down a quarter-mile track. With the backing of Rake Records and the constant support of their fanatical fans, Model Citizen is destined to claim their throne as the kings of the new generation of punk rock.
